The Colour Run 2013: sun, sweat, and paint

Last weekend’s Colour Run was a lot of fun. I say fun- let me just qualify that by saying as fun as a 5k run can be on the hottest afternoon of the year being blasted with powder paint at every kilometre. Me, Matt and Debbie joined about 15,000 other Colour Runners at the start line at Wembley Park and proceeded to sweat. A lot.

What’s more everyone else gave up running after about a kilometre and started strolling along, enjoying the sunshine and playing with the paint. Matt and Debbie ran the whole way, putting me to shame in my incredibly unfit state. I kept up with them, though Debbie literally dragged me over the finish line.

We managed to raise a bit of cash for Stand Up to Cancer and cooled off with a pint afterwards, well-deserved. If you’re running in Manchester today,  have a great time and remember to bring lots of water and suncream!

There are still places on the Brighton 5k in September if you want to take part!
